KCC Inmate dies of unknown causes
Foul play is not suspected

Ketchikan, Alaska - Alaska State Troopers along with the Ketchikan Fire Department (KFD) responded Saturday morning to the Ketchikan Correctional Center (KCC) following a report that an inmate was unconscious and was not breathing.

KCC and KFD personnel performed CPR on William H. Kennedy, 41 of Klawock, until he arrived at Ketchikan General Hospital (KGH) and was pronounced deceased.

Investigation by the Alaska State Troopers revealed Kennedy had died in his cell at the Ketchikan Correctional Center as a result of unknown causes. The investigation did reveal that Kennedy was alone in his cell at the time of his death and foul play is not suspected.

The investigation is continuing and the AST is awaiting the results of an autopsy which is being conducted by the State Medical Examiner.

Kennedy's next of kin has been notified of the death.
