For the record
by Ted Wright

January 27, 2005
Thursday

I figured I'd get a response like the one from Jay Jones re: the Cold Storage issue, but his was too ridiculous to really warrant serious comment. For the record, though, I was mostly just pointing out facts. The government of the U.S. in 2005 (not Italy of 1940) provides major subsidies to corporations and to, yes, non-profits. Many of them compete in the (free) marketplace. And if Ketchikan decides not to compete using all the resources available, that's Ketchikan's decision. I was just saying that the community leaders ought to think about what other communities are doing, including community development through so-called non-profits.

Get a grip, Jay. And face the facts.
