Outdoor opportunities

Wow - I'm really amazed at all the people who think that the "indoor" form of entertainment is the only way. My take on the situation? After spending all day working on computers and networks, spending my evenings going to college (full time), and keeping my finances in check I just can't wait to get outside.

The outdoor opportunities are why most of us live here. A teenager is here because their parents are here - so we really can't continue to tell them all the things that are available. This just isn't the truth for the people who want to be outdoors. I can only imagine their enthusiasm to be indoors after laboring through our illustrious school system everyday.

I'd like to see more outdoor opportunities. In Sitka there would be events to climb Mount Edgecumbe - my oldest son did that when he was in the 8th grade! We also had several back roads for four wheeling and snowmobiling.

But then that is just me. I realize I am not the rich man in town and certainly not as educated as those who find solace indoors. I do know there is so much more to life than the indoor stuff and it should be balanced with opportunities outdoors as well.

I bet more people would speak to this, but they are probably outdoors enjoying themselves!
