Public Meeting: Where to Put Students Next Year
by Dave Lieben

January 05, 2005
Wednesday

I'd like to let everyone know that there's going to be a public meeting on the subject of where to put our students next school year. It will be at the Ted Ferry Civic Center on Wednesday, January 19, at 7 p.m. This will give everyone a chance to comment, present their ideas, and work together in small groups to evaluate the different options.

Schoenbar is scheduled to be completed well before the start of the 2005-2006 school year, and Fawn Mountain should be coming along but not ready for occupancy at that time. Two of the options presented so far, in no particular order, are:

  • Leave the 8th grade in Kayhi;
    • move the 6th and 7th graders into Schoenbar;
    • disperse the PK-5th grade from White Cliff into Houghtaling and Point Higgins.
  • Leave the 8th grade in Kayhi;
    • move the students from White Cliff along with the 7th graders into Schoenbar.

Please mark the date on your calendar (unless, like me, you're waiting until they're 50% off!) and come and make your voice heard. I hope to see you there!
