Ketchikan, Alaska - Feathery and frilly red hats and purple dresses
were abundant Sunday afternoon at the tea and luncheon held at
the Pioneer Home hosted by the vibrant girls of the Rain Drop
Chapter of the Red Hat Society of Ketchikan.
Guitarist Mary Larson provided
the entertainment and soon had this already lively group rockin',
singing songs such as 'Hey Good Lookin', 'Jambalaya' and 'Ring
of Fire.'
The ladies of Ketchikan's Rain
Drop Chapter of the Red Hat Society meet on a regular basis for
tea in their red hats and purple dresses. These ladies say they
embrace life and celebrate the milestone of turning 50 - not
the millstone!. The Red Hat girls don't exclude members under
50... their simple solution, members who are under 50-years-of-age
wear pink hats!
Obviously for the observer,
fun is foremost and rules are few. In fact according to Ketchikan's
Rain Drop Chapter of the Red Hat Society, there is pride in the
'disorganization' of the organization. Why not? After all the
girls say, life is too short to be taken seriously so go for
the gusto together!
