John Zahler, Registered Pharmacist (RPh), Pharmacy Manager at Ketchikan General Hospital (KGH) for the past three years, has been named Employee of the Month by a
committee of his peers.

Zahler came to Ketchikan after his youngest child graduated from high school in Portland, Oregon.  He had previously worked at hospitals in Barrow, Nome and Anchorage and states he "enjoyed all of my Alaska experiences."

"I was interested in PeaceHealth because of its affiliation with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace," Zahler stated. "I enjoyed working at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, Oregon prior to coming to Ketchikan.  After working with the Sisters of Providence, I wanted to continue with a Catholic affiliated hospital and I have enjoyed working at KGH."

Zahler received his RPh from Oregon State University and his MBA from Portland State University.

One of the several employees who nominated him stated, "Whenever I need help with medication doses, interactions, cost comparisons, or other pharmaceutical questions, he has always been pleasant, informative, and helpful. He always does it with a smile."

The award of Employee of the Month at KGH recognizes those who regularly go above and beyond what is required, to provide high quality service to patients, visitors and co-workers.
