Governor Welcomes Legislature To Juneau
Will Speak in Joint Session Tuesday at 7 pm

January 13, 2004
Tuesday - 12:45 am

Governor Frank Murkowski on Monday welcomed members of the second session of the 23rd Alaska Legislature to Juneau, which convened this morning. Murkowski received delegations from the House of Representatives and the State Senate, who traditionally report to the Governor when they have begun their sessions.

"I look forward to working with the members of the Legislature to resolve the issues before us," Murkowski said. "The people of Alaska have put their confidence in their Governor and in their elected representatives to find solutions to the state's fiscal problems, to ensure the public safety and maintain a social safety net for seniors, and a myriad of other issues. Working together in a bipartisan effort, we can and we will find the answers Alaskans are looking for."

House members meeting with the Governor were Representative Nancy Dahlstrom (R-Eagle River) and Representative Sharon Cissna (D-Anchorage). The Senate delegation was comprised of Senator Bert Stedman (R-Sitka) and Senator Georgianna Lincoln (D-Rampart).

Governor Murkowski will address the Legislature in joint session on Tuesday evening, January 13, 2004, at 7 pm. The combined State of the State/State of the Budget speech is expected to be about 45 minutes in length, and will be carried live statewide.
